June Love List: Our Life In Pictures

June.  Wintery. Rainy. I love you so and yet I’ve never understood the concept of a June wedding in Australia. It’s one of the most popular months to get married, but it’s so bloody cold! Imagine having to shiver in a sleeveless gown all day. Absolute murder.

Ahem. Anyway I digress – back to the subject at hand – The June Love List! It’s been a truly peaceful month, with lots of little wins.  And really that’s as good as it gets, isn’t it?

Reading/Playing: Cinnamon by Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman writing for kids? Yes please!  I’m a huge Gaiman fan girl – I swear if he wrote the phone book, I would sit down and devour that thing from cover to cover. Cinnamon is a fairly typical Gaiman story about talking tigers and pearl eyed princessess, that I’d urge  any geeky parent to pick up for their youngling. And we have a bonus activity to extend the fun – a bubble wrap tiger painting!

Winning: Bibo Water Pod

I won a thing! I swear to god this thing is magical – no more arguments about who forgot to fill the water bottle in the fridge. PS it’s almost never me 😉

Drinking: Podista Mint Hot Chocolate

You may have guessed from my blog name that I’m a little bit obsessed with mint. Mint ice cream, peppermint tea, mint lollies but nothing beats the combo of mint mixed with chocolate. It is most definitely hygge on a cold night.

Seeing: Marvel Creating the MCU Exhibit

I cannot tell you enough how much everyone should see this exhibit. It is possibly one of the coolest things since Thor filming to come to Brisbane. Unfortunately for all you in the other states, it’s an exclusive with no plans to move around the country as yet, but hey – great excuse to come visit me in Brissy!

Celebrating: Mr Rogue’s Birthday

Happy birthday to My Sun and Stars. Not gonna lie, this cake was just as sweet as it looked. But didn’t Bear and his nanna  do a fantastic job decorating it?

Milestone-ing: Shopping For Toddler Beds

I swore I wasn’t going to cry, and I almost made it. The kiddo has basically Hulked out of his crib, with his various extremities getting stuck in the bars on regular occurrences, so off to the shops we went.  Sadly for him, he did not get the cool race car bed as his Daddy cannot fit in it, so we have been hyping the far less cool king single to hope it seems more exciting. The transition is yet to come, so pray for me. And send coffee.

Planning: Cosplays for Oz Comic-Con

Woo! It’s almost convention season people and I know what’s most important. Forget the celebrities and the swag – it’s the cosplay! If your kiddo is of a mind to dress up, I’ve got you covered with 10 ridiculously easy cosplays that require no sewing. Because I suck at it.

Shopping: Aldi Toy Sale

The ALDI toy sale is second only to the snow sale for pure insanity. I usually meander end towards the end of the night and just hope there’s something left. Luckily I came upon my unicorn – the wooden coffee machine. It’s part of my dastardly plot to have my kid bring me coffee in bed. One day……

Holidaying: Byron Bay

And lastly, the beauty that is Byron Bay. I don’t think I can tell you just how much I needed a wee break from the daily grind, and Byron is the perfect place to leave it all behind. Something about it just screams chill out! If you’re thinking of heading down, check out my round up for must do family activities.

So that’s my life in a nutshell – what’s making your June Love List? Did you have a June wedding? Set me straight in the comments!

  1. So many things to love in this post! Like you, I am a huge fan of all things mint flavoured. I crave Mint Slice biscuits here the most. Luckily they’re available at a shop about 20 minutes drive away. But I hoarde them like an apocalypse preparer. I didn’t know that Gaiman had a kids book out! Buying it for all of the kids in my life, thank you!

      1. I love mint chocolate, too. Lots of things to love there. Must check out that book. I think my little man would like it.

  2. I wasn’t aware Gaiman had written something for kids. Of course I don’t have kids, so that could be why!

I was visiting Brissy around the time the new exhibition started at GOMA. I must check the dates cos I’m back in August and would love to go… even though I’m not a huge Marvel person.

  3. We did the car bed thing for our grandkids sleepovers but in the end it became heavy & cumbersome but a friend was happy to have it for her son. I am a mint person too and combined with chocolate it is YUM. Adore Byron Bay and the areas around it. Lovely catch up here with you! Thank you linking up….and I shall be back!! Denyse xx
