Cosplay is one of the best things about going to a convention. Kids love dress ups at the best of times but it’s so much better at a con, where they can see the adults joining in the fun too and come face to face with their favourite characters. Here’s my favourite fantabuously easy kid cosplay ideas so the whole family can join in!
Easy Kid Cosplay Ideas
Kara Danvers (from Supergirl)
Layer tee under dress shirt and pants/skirt. Unbutton dress shirt halfway to show logo. Pop on some fake glasses for a perfect Supergirl.
Dagobah Luke & Yoda (from Star Wars)
This one is perfect for babywearers! If your little one is old enough for a back carry, pop them on with some Yoda ears and you is done man!
Kiki (from Kiki’s Delivery Service)
One for the Studio Ghibli fans! Kiki is a wonderful character, and such an easy cosplay for your little one.
Tintin (from Tintin)
Tintin is a classic for a reason. What really sells this cosplay is the hairdo, and luckily there are some fantastic tutorials around to help you get that classic fringe.
Casual Princess Bubblegum (from Adventure Time)
Princess Bubblegum has a lot of looks out there, but I’m a big fan of her casual one particularly, because it’s so easy to put together. Her crown looks challenging, but it’s actually a breeze. Check the tutorial. .
Peter Parker (from Spiderman)
Layer Spiderman tee under dress clothes, unbuttoning shirt slightly as with Supergirl. Pop a camera around your neck and you are done! If you want to make this a family cosplay, wear a grey wig in a bun and a floral dress to be Aunt May!
The Eleventh Doctor
The Doctor is one of the most popular cosplay characters at a con, and it’s primarily because he’s so easy to copy! What really sells this are the accessories – luckily fezzes are pretty easy to DIY – just remember the Doctor’s doesn’t have a tassel.
Elliot & ET
This is possibly the easiest cosplay of all time because most kids will already have the stuff in their closet with the exception of the ET doll, which can usually be found at an op shop. If you can’t locate one, just print out a mask and pop it on a teddy bear. Once you wrap it in the blanket, no-one will know the difference!
Coraline
Coraline is one of my absolute favourite kids characters of all time. She’s tough, scrappy and above all, easy to cosplay!
Arthur Dent
Obscure, yes. Easy, definitely! Just get your kid to walk around complaining about the lack of tea to make this cosplay come together!

Ozcomiccon is amazing! I managed to make it last year, and it was so family friendly. For me there is only one Doctor, Tom Baker. I’d go as his doctor and use the extremely long scarf as a convenient kiddy leash, as I expect my 3 year old will be a lot quicker on her feet than she was last year….
Hahaha I love it!!
I would coslay as Molly Weasley, because I could easily incorporate my red haired child into my costume, I would get to wear comfortable clothes and mutter about Muggles, and Molly Weasley is generally awesome.
She is epic. Love her to bits!
I don’t know about cosplay but I’m going as Arthur Dent for the next fancy dress party. How’d I never think of that before!! Too easy!
And comfy too!
My girls would love to go as Kiki or any anime character. But i think I’d have to splash out and help them with Sailor Moon/Mini Moon costumes as that would suit them perfectly!
My older girls are going to super nova this weekend and are cosplaying and are already talking about Comic con. I would love to win the tickets to the Sydney event because I want to take the little ones to there first! It would be awesome!
These are amazing – I love the Princess Bubblegum one!
It’s my favourite too!
I would definitely go as Hermione (if only for the fact that I have everything I already need and my hair is perfectly Hermione-esque!). I’m pretty sure my big girl would want to go as a Glitter Girl, a manga show she has recently started watching. I went last year with my BIL and I would love to be able to take Punky with me this year, I think she would LOVE it and is just the right age for it now.
I would love to go and take my nephew. I’d totally need a costume that would be compatible with baby wearing. Maybe a ninja turtle and wear her in the baby carrier on my back as a shell!!
oooh what a great idea!
Too cool. Comic Con looks like so much fun. My girls love dress ups, I love these ideas 🙂
Thanks lovely!xxoo
I’d go as Aladdin.
ooh love it!
