Beginnings.. Not A Fan

Sadly I had to skip last week’s final confession, as Ive been taking a blogging break while I recovered from surgery, but I’m very happy to join Denyse for the first outing of Life This Week. While I’m excited to be embarking on this new link up with the rest of the I Must Confess crew, I don’t generally get excited about beginnings. To me, beginnings are bittersweet, because it usually means something had to come to an end.
Beginnings are the blank page mocking you when you can’t write or the lonely feeling when you start a new job even though you loved the old one. They are a first date with someone who might hurt you. Beginnings to me are that feeling when you think there’s one more step and then you fall.

But then again, maybe I’m being too harsh on beginnings. I should give them a second chance. They are also the first step down the aisle to start a new life with your best friend, or looking into the eyes of your new teeny little baby for the first time or meeting your new cat because you’re ready to love someone new after losing your little buddy. Or that moment where you finally change your life for the better.

How do you feel about beginnings? Love em or hate em? Or are you somewhere in between? Share in the comments or join the link up over at Life This Week!

  1. I have a love/hate relationship with beginnings. I love beginning a book or a meal (ahem) but otherwise I don’t cope well with change. Hope you’re on the mend from your surgery and everything is okay xo

  2. Oh thank you so much for finding the bloggy motivation to come to the link up for its ‘beginning’ today. I hear you on beginnings but for me, I get sad at times about ‘endings’ because you don’t always know it’s the ‘last’ or ‘final’ time. I hope you are feeling better too!

    1. Thanks for starting it!! I wouldn’t have missed this beginning for the world 🙂 so true that you never know if it its the last time you do something – particular since having my son the idea that he will never do a particular baby thing again makes me sad.

  3. I tend to focus on the exciting new things so I tend to love new beginnings. At least in the lead up to them. When I’m actually in them, I’m not such a fan because it’s new and scary and nerve wracking.

  4. New beginnings are definitely scary! And it isn’t til much later that you can see it was fantastic or terrible but I think if you go in with your eyes open and a positive mindset even if it doesn’t work out I do believe there is something that we can learn from most experiences. Hope you are recovering well.
