September’s been a relatively quiet month for us. I’ve been recovering from my laparoscopy, so sadly my inspiration has been a bit lacking lately. I’m trying hard to bounce back, but being in pain tends to sap my creativity and Tigger bounce. Wehad a few milestones in September – Bear turned two, our last baby swim lesson and our first con together as a family. It’s been a good month overall, so it’s hard to pick just 7 things for the September Love List, but pick them I shall.
The Cursed Child
I curled up with this book for the few days I was bed bound after my surgery. After I was so excited to finally find a copy, it was a bit of a disappointment that I didn’t enjoy it the first time around. I disliked the use of time travel and to me it felt a bit fan-fictiony. So it made sense that while JK came up with the story and someone else did the actual writing, and this helped me enjoy it a lot more the second time.
Father’s Day
While my own father just gets his usual cinema gift card (sorry Dad, I suck at gifts), I loved watching my husband and son interact on Father’s Day. As Bear was only about one last year, he was a lot more fun and interactive this year. Particularly when it came to opening presents.
Salted Caramel Peanut Butter Cheesecake.
Seriously this is a thing of beauty. Look at it. Isn’t it gorgeous? There is no Mondayitis working this close to Chester St Bakery.
Oz Comic Con
While I’ve attended Supanova kid-free before, this was both my first time at Oz Comic-Con and my first time with toddler in tow. I’m happy to say it was a great success, and we all had an absolute blast. And hey, now I finally have the family portait I’ve always dreamed of! See my tips for taking the kidlets to conventions here.
Bear Is Two!
Bear turned two in September! We opted out of a party this year, and instead took a trip to one of his favourite places – Underwater World. Toddlers and aquariums have always been a match made in heaven, but throw in the Octonauts and our little guy is sold! I have a lot of feelings about Bear suddently being a big two year old. See my letter to Bear here.
#3FictionalCharacters
I’ve loved seeing these meme pop up on my news feed this month. It’s been so interesting seeing which three fictional characters people choose to describe their personality. Mine were Dashi (from Octonauts), Jen (from The IT Crowd) and Codex (from The Guild). It probably says a lot about me that Dashi is the only one without some kind of social anxiety!
Pokemon Go Plus
While my love of Pokemon Go will come as no surprise to regular readers, I have seriously adored this device. I love the fact that it tracks my distance without having to keep the app open constantly draining my battery. It’s so much cheaper than an Apple Watch, but I have to admit I’m tempted…..
What were you loving this month? Share in the comments what would make your September Love List!

That cheesecake looks divine and the rest of the pics lovely. I’ve never been to a Comic Con but would be kinda tempted. I’m a huge sci fi person but I’d love to go to one in the US etc…
It’s my dream to go to New York comic con. I hear that and San Fran are just an incredible experience even for the non geeky.
I want to eat that delicious-looking cheesecake! Also, isn’t The IT Crowd hilarious?I love it. British comedies are the best. #MummyMondays
I’m a huge fan of any British comedy but seeing as I’m a helpdesker by trade the IT Crowd is very close to my heart. My favourite is the one with the red door. Cracks me up every time!
How cool that you got to go to Oz Comic Con as a family! What did the little one think of it? I hope you’re feeling better this week.
He was rapt! I wasn’t sure if it would be too much for him but he was just so excited to see everything! The 501st Legion were definitely the favourites – he has a shirt that plays Star Wars music so as soon as he heard the theme song he was stoked!
You had me at salted caramel
I know right?
That cheesecake. WOW! Sounds like it’s been busy for you. Great photos. Hope you’re feeling better and recovered from your surgery very soon.
What a lot of fun it is with a 2 year old these days! They love gifts and all that comes with fun. I liked your update! Thanks for linking up for Life This Week 4. Denyse
It’s such a fun age! He sort of knows what’s going on now and plays with the actual gift rather than the paper!
Some great things to be grateful this month for! I especially loved that cake and the fact that your son turned two! ( I love the two year old stage!)
Isn’t it fun? Oh and that cheesecake was amazing. That bakery has so many amazing things I never eat the same thing twice!
I had a birthday in Septemer! It’s a great month! I wish the weather got the memo though.
I totally get the pokemon Go obsession. I haven’t gotten into them this time, but when my son had it on GameBoy back in the day, I couldn’t put it down lol
Happy birthday to you!! The weather has definitely sucked this month 🙁
There are a few things I enjoyed about September.
I began volunteering at our local library, I went to the Melbourne Show, I read a few books that were on my (loooong) to-be-read list, and I got to spend time with my kids during school holidays 🙂
That cheesecake looks amazing!!! I haven’t been able to read The Cursed Child. I just can’t do it… maybe if I looked at it as fan fiction I could give it a try.
It definitely made it easier for me once I knew she hadn’t written it.
That was a lot of fun to revisit your posts – great ones! Here’s to October…
aww thanks and hear hear!
Felicia Day (Codex) plays an awesome role in Supernatural too, across a few seasons. I was so sad when they killed her off! I finished Supernatural on Netflix though. During September I was loving Daredevil – the Marvel series
Oh I loved Charlie!! such a great character. I’m a huge Felicia Day fan. Her autobiography came out this year and it was fab.
And Daredevil – so good! Just getting into Luke Cage now!
